It has been like forever and two weeks since I last updated . . . so here goes . . . what have I been up to in the last couple of weeks . . .
Hmm, nothing . . . at all . . . jk . . . actually I have been working on catching up with homework, yes class did just start a few weeks ago, but I have been under this feeling that I am behind the entire time . . . so I have been working on it and I think I broke through the never ending flood on about Tuesday . . . and since then I have been staying pretty much on top of it. So that has been really nice to finally get that feeling of balance back.
Work has been good, I have been on the Chapel Crew . . . staying plenty busy with that and not really having much time for extra Chapel Media related things . . . like video work and such .. . oh well . . . I am learning more sound stuff this way and get to not worry about all the other things going on.
This past Wednesday I was with a group of three other CM people and we went over to Grace To You and took a tour of their facilities. Bryan works with one of the guys at GTY at Grace Community Church and somehow get around to arranging a tour. It was so amazing, here in this business center is the hub of such a worldwide organization. It was really tough to go walking around and see all the top notch equipment and facilities, knowing that we have sooo much less on campus. But such is the way that it goes.
We got to see their studio where they do the tag recording at the beginning and end of each broadcast. An example is their editing program . . . they have Wavelab, about $700, and we use Goldwave, about $30. Yes! That is not a typo! It is a $670 difference . . . and that doesn’t count the various plug-ins he has for Wavelab . . . it makes us look like complete amateurs. But I guess we just do what we can with what we have . . . hopefully he will be able to come down to school and tour our building and give us some pointers on how to improve, so that will be good.
In other news . . . yeah . . . there really isn’t any . . . still plugging away with what I have to do and trying not to get run over with everything that is going on.
My brother is engaged!!! The last couple of times I have talked with my parents or siblings they have said I needed to talk to him . . . so I called him this afternoon . . . yeah, he has finally gotten to propose and install a ring. So that is like super-exciting, yet at the same time going to make going home just a little weird. He had bought a house just a couple of weeks before I came back to school and moved out like a week and a half before I did . . . and I was like busy with work and school stuff . . . so it really hasn’t sunk in that he has really moved out . . . and now he is engaged and living totally out on his own. The wedding is like the first weekend I get home in May . . . so that will be great!!
Which brother?
also, installed?
now I have an image of going to Home Depot, and picking up a ring installation kit. (“if you don’t hold still, I might drill the hole crooked….”)
Sorry we never got together over the summer. email me next time you’re around, mmkay?
