It was a clear and cloudless night, with the fireflies blinking in edges of the fields I had to pass on my way home. The moon had set hours ago and I was sitting at a stop sign, dead. No, I was not dead but my car was, just konking out as I pulled up the hill to the sign. What was left for me to do but to push the car back off of the road and into the yard by the sign and start walking?
Yes indeed folks I was stranded last night on my way home, according to my brother, who looked at it this morning, the timing belt broke . . . sad times.
The walk wasn’t too bad, only about two miles right down the middle of the gravel road that we live on. The worst part was that this was about four o’clock in the morning. And what was it that kept me out and about until four?? It was a great conversation with Jake B. after college group that lasted until about 3am. And then I headed home.
On the bright side of things, it was only two miles from home . . . Lincoln where I was is about 35 miles away and considering the lack of traffic at that hour I would have hated to try to figure out a way to get home if I had been much farther away.
Praise God that things are indeed in His control without it I am sure we would all have lots and lots more fun!!
